What is UplinE?

Set in the world of late-stage capitalism and peak social media, Upline follows four women as they become involved in Lumaplex, a multi-level marketing company selling... the dream. Kenzie and Alex, lifelong friends, join Lumaplex in pursuit of financial freedom and community, guided by Madison, the charismatic leader at the top of the pyramid.

The arrival of Vic, a struggling single mother, forces the women to confront uncomfortable truths about the system. When Kenzie discovers Madison using unethical sales techniques, she is ultimately forced to choose whether to sacrifice her principles for power (and money).

At a high-energy Lumaplex convention, Madison rallies a room full of hopeful women, promising freedom, wealth, and belonging.

Over wine, Kenzie and Alex admit how dtheir lives have become. They give each other permission to want more.

At a spin class, Madison and the Lumaplexies radiate confidence and relentless positivity. Kenzie feels the pull to belong.

Madison invites Kenzie out for a “girls night,” and Kenzie is excited to get dressed up and feel like her old self again.

Madison and the Lumaplexies make their pitch, selling Lumaplex as sisterhood, purpose, and opportunity. Kenzie decides to join.

Kenzie recruits Alex and they work together to recruit more women, adopting the cheerful, scripted language of Lumaplex.

The men behind Lumaplex congratulate themselves on a system that rewards them while others do the work.

Alex quits Lumaplex, and Kenzie doubles down on a livestream, selling Lumaplex as the fix to a system that was never built for women.

When Vic reveals she has cancer, Kenzie turns it into a fundraising opportunity, convincing herself that the ends will justify the cost.

Sensing Kenzie’s doubts, Madison reframes control as care, urging her to choose ambition over loyalty and keep climbing.

The Lumaplex husbands convince Kenzie’s husband to “retire” and enjoy the perks of a system powered by their wives’ labor.

Offered the chance to take Madison’s place at the top, Kenzie faces a crossroads.
